Why Upgrade to RFMS Version 10?
For nearly 25 years RFMS has been the leader in developing business management software technology for the floor covering industry. To keep our company and our clients moving forward with current technology we have rebuilt our business management software to work with the Microsoft SQL database. Microsoft SQL is arguably the most widely accepted PC based database technology. RFMS Version 10 (RFMS for MS SQL) offers a tremendous advantage to our clients in terms of processing speed, search filters, report generation, more rapid new programming development, and overall system compatibility with the most widely accepted software platform in the world.
RFMS Version 10 was first released in late 2005 and today we have over 600 clients who have already upgraded.
The primary requirement that clients must have in place in order to convert to Version 10 is the installation of the Microsoft SQL data base engine. Microsoft SQL Express is currently available at no cost from Microsoft (normally this will accommodate up to 15 RFMS users – larger clients will need to purchase the workgroup version of SQL).
There are many reasons why you should upgrade to RFMS Version 10, not the least of which is that all new software development will take place in this new platform. In fact, Version 10 contains over 500 enhancements over Version 9.6. Please review the following list of key RFMS software enhancements that are now available in Version 10:
Core Benefits:
• File corruption and I/O errors are basically a thing of the past because of the nature of Microsoft SQL in comparison with Pervasive.
• Most list boxes (i.e. the order entry listing, inventory listing, PO listing) can now be sorted by simply clicking on the column heading. This is a core feature of Microsoft SQL.
• Notes for Version 10 are in a Rich Text Format (different fonts, point sizes, colors, and formatting are available). This means entering notes is like working in a word processor.
Order Entry: • The “Find Button” allows immediate filtering of orders by customer name, ship to name, sales rep and more, and can be further filtered by undelivered/delivered, AR balance due, etc.
• Ability to track and pay commissions or spiffs to designers, contractors, builders, etc., for bringing leads to your company.
• Partial billing summary features project cost and profit for all invoices in the billing group. These numbers display on screen and recalculate each time a change is made in the billing group.
• User Defined Picture Directory allows you to determine where you would like to store pictures on your local machine. Not only can you store pictures, but PDF files as well. In addition, you may also attach Word and Excel documents to customer orders.
• The Simple Inventory and Products Browse allow you to simplify the materials browse when entering a customer order.
Products:
• Field explanations for product records have been expanded to accommodate longer names for style, color, supplier, manufacturer, etc., so that all pertinent information can be displayed.
• A product record now has 12 selling prices, formulas and commissions as opposed to 6 previously.
• In the cost box there is a graph showing the cost trend of a product.
• Products can be searched by SKU # or Color Name and a “fuzzy” filter allows you to find all records that contain a certain word or phrase.
• Price Range Edit has been completely re-written and new features added. Framing Parameters can be saved and loaded so that they can be retrieved for future use.
Inventory:
• Standard/Large/Condensed POs now have the style and color name descriptions displaying up to 40 characters. The standard notes fields have been expanded as well.
• Re-order quantity levels by store code and dye lot will be available starting March 2008.
Accounting:
• With Version 10 it is now possible to have an infinite number of payable distributions. Previously only 16 were allowed.
• Version 10 allows the customization of A/P checks based on your needs/wants.
• General Ledger AP check posting now posts every check not just lump sums for the check run.
• Two new Graphs are available: A/P Due and Top 10 Vendors.
• The Commission Override report allows you to quickly calculate commission amounts in a method separate from the commission schedules in Order Entry.
• In the Accounting module, a reports Dashboard is now available displaying bar graphs for the following information: Written Sales, Delivered Sales, Cash on Hand, Inventory on Hand, Sales by Sales Rep and much more.
Human Resources:
• Posting provider earnings from the RFMS Order Entry module to the RFMS Human Resources module is now automatic.
E-Commerce:
• Product Code Assignment allows downloaded EC records to have each dealer’s unique product codes automatically assigned
• With PO Updates, changes in PO status, ship date, or production date are now being sent electronically by Shaw and Mohawk and the history is tracked on each PO line.
• ASNs (Advance Shipment Notices) make possible for bills of lading and roll tags to be printed before the material arrives at your location.
Miscellaneous:
• RFMS Mail is now available. You can generate and send mail from any module to any user.
